I have not always known or understood that I have missed so many nuggets and or life changing messages/lessons/cues because I came to the table saying I know. In other words, closed off or partially closed off. When something happens, I unconsciously say I know the lesson or the message being given to me. Many times my erroneous understanding were based on a past experience and what I felt I was to learn; what I had learned; and even what I felt I did not learn. I am not saying that there are not lesson that need to be continued. However, we must stay open to discern what they are or are not and what to do with what we know.
Each situation is different. What if, just what if, the message for a similar situation is different? Everything is about progress. What if the new message is building on the old message but taking us in a different direction to get it? When making a cake, the instructions may say add two teaspoons of water to make it more moist or use cream cheese, or real butter, or…you get the picture. When we are so stuck on saying I know the message based on the previous lesson then we miss pertinent guidance to new experiences.
In the Bible, the Children of Israel’s food was provided for them. They were told to eat new manna (bread) every day and to not save any of it because it would surely spoil. The bread of life is provided for us. As we take time to properly eat our food, in this case digest the lesson, our spirit will be better able to utilize our truth.
Have a beginner’s mind and stay open.
